@maryportmatters
Maryport Matters is a free, full colour, quarterly, community magazine which serves residents from the town and the surrounding areas including Flimby, Dearham, Crosby, Crosscanonby and Broughton Moor. It provides news and original features to inform, connect and empower residents as well as celebrating community achievements.
Based at The Centre, it is created by the community for the community.
It relies on advertising, sponsorship and funding to keep it going.
Launched in 2016 the magazine is a firm favourite in the area and is the only town specific publication.
Free.
There are 8,000 copies of each edition printed, the majority of which are delivered FREE direct to people’s homes.
If you live in Maryport, Broughton Moor, Crosby, Crosscanonby, Dearham or Flimby you should get a copy delivered through your letterbox. Unfortunately, this is not an exact science and sometimes houses can get missed out. If you would like a copy, please contact us on info@thecentrewestcumbria.com or call in at The Centre. Alternatively, copies are also available to pick up from selected local community venues.
A digital copy is also available. Please see archives below. For previous editions not displayed please contact us on info@thecentrewestcumbria.com.
Maryport Matters has been set up by people living and working locally and is managed by The Centre West Cumbria Ltd.
Currently there are 4 editions a year:
- Spring (March – May)
- Summer (June – July)
- Summer Hols / Autumn (Aug – Nov)
- Winter (Dec – Feb)
- Your story appears in 8,000 copies of the magazine which are delivered FREE through people’s doors in the Maryport area.
- Your story appears in a digital edition of the magazine which stays on the website year-round.
- Your story will also be shared on our Maryport Matters facebook page once the magazine has been published (and if you let us know your handles, we can tag you in the posts!)
We value the views and opinions of readers and encourage submissions and contributions from all sectors of the community.
We are always on the lookout for stories about people in the area, celebrating achievements as well as signposting to services and opportunities. Please provide approx. 150 words of copy including details of who, when, where, why, what and how much. And include a lovely hi res image with a caption saying who is in the picture. We want to feature as many smiley faces in the magazine as possible. We love to see real people doing real things. There is no cost to you if we include your stories etc. in the magazine.
In addition to the newsy stuff, if you want to send in any recipes, puzzles, pictures or reviews for the regular platforms then please do so – we also welcome any new ideas for features or platforms that would add something extra.
Please note that although we will try and feature as many articles as we can, space is obviously limited, and we cannot feature everything. If your article follows the guidelines listed above AND includes a picture it has more chance of getting in. Articles received after deadline may not be accepted. Inclusion is subject to availability and is at the discretion of the editor.
The deadline for the next edition is printed in each edition of the magazine (usually on p2).
If you would like to be added to our mailing list to receive content requests and reminders then please email info@thecentrewestcumbria.com You will only receive emails about Maryport Matters and your details will not be shared with any third parties.
Notification of deadlines will also appear on Maryport Matters facebook page.
Editorial uses text and images to create a short news story, article or snippet. Editorial is free but is not guaranteed and is subject to availability. It may be edited to suit magazine content needs or space restrictions. You will not receive approval or signoff on any changes.
Advertising is paid for space and is guaranteed. It usually appears as a standalone ‘box’ with design features (either credit card size, quarter page, half page or full page). It must be booked in advance. You will receive full sign off and approval on any advert booked. See our terms and conditions on the mediapack.
The magazine is not for profit and the advertising fees goes towards printing and distribution costs. If you would like to guarantee space in the magazine there are several cost-effective advertising options. Ads are sold on a first come first served basis. Ads start from as little as £40 – please see the media pack for further details. Ads can be booked by emailing info@thecentrewestcumbria.com by the specified deadline.
