HUG A MUG was an award winning community listening and signposting initiative which provided support for local residents with health & well-being, finance and family problems. HUG A MUG was project managed by Ewanrigg Local Trust, based and in partnership with Maryport Health Services, and run by volunteers who were trained in listening and communication skills and mental health awareness. The initiative worked with a network of third sector and health organisations across West Cumbria to provide clients with support and signposting. Volunteers were made up of individuals from the local community, representatives from local businesses and students.
Awards: National Mental Health and Wellbeing Awards – Most Innovative Mental Health Intervention; West Cumbria Community Heroes Awards 2018 – Best Community Project Champion of the Year Allerdale.
